Stephen is an economist, historian, educator and writer.

He spent over 30 years as a senior business manager, management consultant, adviser and executive coach, mostly in the financial services industry, in London, Frankfurt and Prague.

As a consultant he was a co-founder of Cooper’s & Lybrand’s European Financial Services Consulting Practice and later the “Geschaeftsfuerhrer” of the German practice of the specialist financial services consultancy Oliver, Wyman & Co. As a manager in the industry, he was Head of European Banking Research at Salomon Brothers, Head of European Equities at Dresdner Bank in Frankfurt, Head of Emerging Markets Financial Institutions Corporate Finance at UBS and Managing Director of the London operations and Head of FIG at CA-IB. Six years ago Stephen founded his own consulting and coaching firm, called Biscaye Consulting, and continues to help many financial institutions with individual and group performance.

Stephen studied economics, business administration, languages and history at the London School of Economics, the University of Warwick, Manchester Business School, the Stern School of Business Administration at New York University, Erlangen University and at London University. He teaches courses on business throughout Europe and is/has been a visiting lecturer at London, Warwick, City and Manchester Business Schools and taught economics at the Swiss National Bank's College in Gerzensee.

He trained as an executive coach with the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and with Tim Gallwey and Sir John Whitmore in "The Inner Game" of Performance Coaching and is a member of the International Coaching Federation. He also trained as a Wilderness Leader in South Africa and Colorado. He is a pilot and qualified Gliding instructor (he won two medals in the British Glider Aerobatics Championships) and is presently training to be an “International Mountain Leader”.
